Govt may have political compulsions, we don't: SC
Tuesday, November 30 2004 12:54 Hrs (IST)

New Delhi: The Supreme Court today (Nov 30, 2004) reacted sharply to Delhi Government proposal to amend city's master plan for regularisation of industries in residential areas where the concentration is 70 per cent or more.

The Court had earlier directed shifting of all industries, except certain falling in the household category, from residential areas of Delhi.

Taking note of in situ regularisation of industries proposed by the Delhi Government and the consequent amendment to the master plan, the Court said, "This proposal has to conform to the law as well as the interest of the residents in the area."

"The Government may have political or other compulsions. We have none. We will see whether the proposed changes conform to the law or not," the Court said.
