Tuesday, November 30 2004 09:36 Hrs (IST)

Tiruchirappalli: With Tamil Nadu Government telling Madras High Court about the alleged links of Kanchi Seer Jayendra Saraswathi with a woman in nearby Srirangam, the temple town came under the siege of the media yesterday (Nov 29, 2004) but they found that she had left the place.

Enquiries made by the media revealed that Usha had lived in an apartment in the temple town for the last one-and-a-half years before vacating it.

Spotlight: Kanchi Jayendra Saraswathi's Arrest

Residents of the apartment told visiting reporters that the police had visited Usha's house on many occasions some time in September and following this they sensed some thing amiss and pressurised her to vacate.

The woman had led a luxurious life and told her neighbours that her husband was living abroad.

They said several persons used to visit the woman and a car used to pick up and drop her frequently.

The neighbours said Usha kept aloof.
