Jaya is not acting out of animosity: Ashok Singhal Wednesday, December 1 2004 22:54 Hrs (IST)
Kancheepuram:
VHP (Vishwa Hindu Parishad) president Ashok Singhal said in Kancheepuram today (Dec 1, 2004) that the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa, was not acting "out of animosity" in the case of the arrested Kanchi Seer Jayendra Saraswathi.
"I have ascertained this from various sources," he told reporters this evening after calling on the junior Shankaracharya Vijayendra Saraswathi, at the mutt in Kancheepuram.
Singhal, who was with the junior Seer for nearly an hour, made this statement when asked to react to Jayalalithaa's recent statement that she had to take the "inevitable step."
He suspected a ''greater foreign and religious'' pressure behind the arrest episode. The police were only trying to ''entangle'' all and sundry in the episode, he said.
