At least 12 injured in a group clash in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: At least a dozen persons were injured in stone pelting between two groups over hoisting of a "religious flag" in Madannapeta area of old city late last night (Dec 1, 2004), police said.

Police resorted to lathicharge and opened four rounds of fire in air to disperse the stone pelting mob, sources said.

The trouble started when a group of people hoisted religious flag of their community, while the members of other community opposed it, police said.

Twelve persons were injured in stone pelting, sources said adding senior police official with additional task force reached the spot and brought the situation under control.
