Civilian employees of various Defence undertakings will hold their federal council meeting in Bangalore from Dec 7, 2004 and deliberate on issues that include seeking a review of private participation and 26 per cent foreign investment in Defence equipment production in the country.
The two-day meet will also demand the scrapping of the recommendations of Nair Committee and JAFA committee regarding staff reduction in the Defence undertakings, a statement from the Bangalore-based Defence Employees Unions co-ordination committee said in Bangalore.
The committee is hosting the fourth federal council meeting of All India Defence Employees Federation (AIDEF), which has a membership of 4.3 lakh Defence civilian employees.
Besides deliberating on the entry of the private sector and foreign investment in Defence equipment production, the meet will also discuss the delay in finalising the cadre review proposals of the non-industrial employees and seek to restructure the Central Government Health Scheme facilities.
The meet will also urge the Centre to grant A1 city status to Bangalore and the associated benefits for employees and also demand for the constitution of the sixth pay commission to counter the inflation, co-ordination committee Chairman M K Ravindran Pillai said in the statement.
