Film activities resume in full swing in Karnataka Thursday, December 2 2004 17:37 Hrs (IST) - World Time

A day after the warring factions of the Kannada film industry agreeing to call for a truce heeding to the State Government plea, activities that were suspend for three days, resumed in full swing today (Dec 2, 2004).
All activities including shooting, recording, editing and dubbing began in the studios in Bangalore after the producers and artists decided to call off their plans for go on an indefinite bandh and relay hunger strike to protest the defying of a three-week moratorium on release of non-Kannada films by a section of exhibitors in Bangalore.
As the confrontation among the representatives of the film industry heightened, Karnataka Chief Minister N Dharam Singh yesterday (Dec 1, 2004) assured them that the Government would try to work out a "negotiated" settlement to the row and the industry leaders accepted it.
"We decided to call off the bandh in view of the recent assurance by the Chief Minister that he would seriously consider the industry's demands and sought some time," Basant Kumar Patil, president of the Kannada Producers' Association said.
Song recording of film 'Shishya' commenced in Mars studio in Bangalore while dubbing of film 'Achala' was on in Chamundeshwari studio. Shooting for films, 'Gunna', 'Sirichandana' and 'Yeshwant' has also begun, industry sources said.
