'Black chapter in the history of Kerala Assembly' Thursday, December 2 2004 21:05 Hrs (IST) - World Time
Kozhikode:
Senior Congress leader V M Sudheeran today (Dec 2, 2004) said it was a 'black chapter' in the history of the Kerala Assembly, which had to be adjourned sine die on the opening day of the winter session yesterday over the ice-cream parlour sex racket issue.
"Having agreed to hold discussions on the issue, I could not understand why then was the delay," Sudheeran told reporters in Kozhikode.
It was unfortunate that the Assembly proceedings had to be adjourned on the opening day itself, he said.
The House, which met for a 12-day session, was adjourned following Opposition protests demanding a discussion on the removal of Industries Minister P K Kunhalikutty on the issue.
'Inept' handling of the issue all through had led to the present fiasco that had now reflected on the floor of the Assembly also, Sudheeran, who is here to participate in the SNDP (Sree Narayana Dharma Paripalana) Yogam's Coordination Committee meet later in the day, said.
