Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf today (Dec 1, 2004) said that solution to Kashmir and Palestine issues were "imperative" and there was no other option for the world community but to resolve them.
Musharraf, currently touring Argentina, told a meeting of editors and intellectuals in Buenos Aires that political problems should be resolved in order to ensure peace in the world.
Referring to his meeting with the Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in New York and the joint statement issued after that, Musharraf said he saw light at the end of the tunnel but there cannot by clapping with one hand alone.
"Pakistan is ready, India will have to come along," official media here quoted him as saying.
Musharraf said the world also needs to address issue of terrorism in its long-term perspective to arrest poverty and hunger as well as establish sustainable peace and achieve equitable development in the world.
"Whatever is happening in the world, Pakistan is directly or indirectly involved showing the significance and importance of the country," he said.
He emphasised that Pakistan is a victim of wrong perception abroad and said these wrong perceptions must be corrected.
Referring to his strategy of enlightened moderation, he said both the Muslim world and the West, in particular the United States, played their respective roles ensuring socio-economic development in the Muslim world and the West's resolving political disputes facing them with justice.
