Uma meets Advani, didn't talk shop with Vajpayee Thursday, December 2 2004 10:30 Hrs (IST)
New Delhi:
Amidst speculation that she might return to the party-fold, suspended BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) leader Uma Bharati last night (Dec 1, 2004) had a meeting with party president L K Advani in New Delhi.
Bharti's meeting with Advani lasted 45 minutes and she left the BJP Chief's residence without talking to waiting media persons. In fact, Bharti chose to use an exit other than where the media persons were waiting for her to come out.
The meeting with Advani assumed significance in view of the BJP Chief's remarks in Ranchi last week that he will hold talks with her on her return to the party-fold. It came a day after her talks with former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
Bharti claimed yesterday (Dec 1, 2004) she did not discuss politics with Vajpayee the day before (Nov 30, 2004) and had gone to his house for dinner.
The firebrand 'sanyasin' was suspended on November 10 after she locked horns with the top party leadership and dared them to take disciplinary action against her in full media glare.
However, subsequently she has been making efforts at rapproachement with the help of some intermediaries close to the RSS (Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh).
