It's a fake letter, I have not written any such: Uma
Thursday, December 2 2004 21:10 Hrs (IST) - World Time

New Delhi: As a letter purportedly written by her attacking senior party leaders surfaced, suspended BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) leader Uma Bharti today (Dec 2, 2004) met party President L K Advani for a second time in two days, apologised unconditionally and distanced herself from the letter.

"It's a fake letter. I have not written any such letter. I am consulting my lawyers to take legal action on this," she told reporters as a controversial unsigned letter, whose excerpts were published by a Hindi magazine, caused flutters in party circles today.

Emerging from a 45-minute meeting with Advani, whom she had met only last night, she said, "Yesterday I met Advani in the evening during which I gave a letter to him apologising for what I did on Oct 10 (at the Central Office bearers meeting). I have left the final decision to Advani."

She was apparently referring to a possible revocation of her suspension from the primary membership of the party.

Bharti, however, declined to comment when asked about the possibility of the revocation of the disciplinary action against her.
