Govt notified on insult to Indian Flag in Kerala
Friday, December 3 2004 14:35 Hrs (IST) - World Time

New Delhi: Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee today (Dec 3, 2004) directed the Government to take note of alleged insult to the National Tricolour at Calicut airport in Kerala by supporters of a political party and initiate appropriate action.

Chatterjee gave the directive after CPI (Communist Party of India) member C K Chandrappan raised the issue during Zero Hour.

The member alleged that workers and supporters of Muslim League who had gathered a couple of days ago at the airport for a reception of their leader brought down the National Flag and put up their party flag in its place.

They also trampled upon the Flag, he alleged adding the airport authorities did not take any action in the matter.
