ISRO appreciates rocket developed by B'lore boys Friday, December 3 2004 16:13 Hrs (IST) - World Time
Bangalore:
A four-member Indian Space Research Organisation team today (Dec 3, 2004) inspected the rocket developed by two high school boys in Bangalore and were appreciative of the venture, according to the school's Principal.
The ISRO (Indian Space and Research Organisation) team also interacted with the boys of Bishop Cotton Boys' School and made suggestions to improve on it, Dr Abraham Ebenezer said.
Ebenezer quoted the ISRO team as saying that it's feasible to launch the rocket. The date for the launch of the rocket "Ebender", developed by class XII students Dhanvi Reddy and Chandan Prasad, is yet to be finalised, he added.
Meanwhile, ISRO has invited the boys to visit its facility at Thumba to see for themselves how rocket launch preparations generally take place.
Ebenezer said that the Director General of Civil Aviation and Air Traffic Control authorities have already given the green signal for the launch.
The 10-feet-high rocket with a three-inch diameter is the result of sustained efforts spread over two years by the two boys, student counsellor Indrani Sudarshan said.
The students said Ebender is "symbolic of our affection and gratitude for the efforts made by our Principal to ensure that our dream project saw the light of the day".
