Bihar Government bans Naxalites' rally of Dec 5
Saturday, December 4 2004 19:23 Hrs (IST) - World Time

Patna: Bihar Government today (Dec 4, 2004) banned tomorrow's (Dec 5, 2004) rally of the CPI (Communist Party of India-Maoist) in Patna being seen as an attempt by the newly born ultra-Left outfit.

IG (Headquarters) Neelmani told sources in Patna that the Government had decided to ban the rally.

''We have directed the law enforcing authorities to prevent them from holding the rally and tackle them with force if the Naxalites venture out,'' Neelmani said.

The CPI (Maoist), formed after the recent merger of People's War (PW) and Maoist Communist Centre (MCC), has announced to hold the rally at the Gandhi Maidan in Patna tomorrow to demonstrate its strength in Bihar.

The PW and MCC, responsible for several massacres in the State, were banned by the Government several years ago.
