Security has been tightened in the twin cities of Faizabad and Ayodhya on the eve of the 12th anniversary of demolition of the disputed structure at Ayodhya as the VHP (Vishwa Hindu Parishad) planned to observe 'Shaurya Diwas' and hold a 'Hindu Sammelan' tomorrow (Dec 6, 2004).
Prohibitory orders have been promulgated and additional security forces deployed at all sensitive places, including Muslim dominated areas, official sources said in Ayodhya today (Dec 5, 2004).
Strict checking of vehicles was being undertaken at all the entry points and senior officials had been camping in Ayodhya to monitor the situation, sources said.
Muslim organisations would observe a 'black day' tomorrow and have also given a call to the Muslim traders to close their shops and other business establishment.
The Hindu Shiv Sena also plans to hold a public meeting tomorrow to demand construction of a Ram temple at the disputed site.
The Congress has organised a 'Hindu-Muslim feast' tomorrow to foster communal peace and amity, party sources said.
Security has also been beefed up around the Kashi Vishwanath temple-Gyanvapi mosque and other sensitive places in Varanasi following the decision by several Muslim and Hindu organisations to observe a 'black day' and 'victory day' tomorrow.
The district administration has also prohibited taking out any protest march and procession as part of observance of the Ayodhya anniversary tomorrow, they said adding personnel of local intelligence department would be deployed at sensitive places to keep watch on the anti-social elements.
Meanwhile, a Muslim organisation Aalmin society has asked the minority community to observe 'black day' tomorrow by putting on black badges and closing their business installations.
