Seer case: TV actress Swarnamalya questioned Tuesday, December 7 2004 20:20 Hrs (IST) - World Time
Kancheepuram:
Up coming Tamil small screen actress, Swarnamalya, was summoned for an inquiry by the special team investigating the murder of Sankararaman, to know about her alleged connections with the Mutt in Kancheepuram.
The young actress, accompanied by her father and mother, appeared before the team, led by the Superintendent of Police, Premkumar and other officials in Kancheepuram this evening and answered all queries for nearly two hours.
Police sources later said she was summoned to get some clarifications on newspaper reports about her connections with the Mutt.
Speaking to reporters later, Swarnamalya said there were reports in some newspapers giving 'insinuating and wrong' reports about her connections with the Mutt. "The replies I had given (to police) satisfied them," she said adding that she herself had chosen to ignore these reports all these days.
The Special Team is going into various complaints or news items appearing with regard to the Mutt, while investigating the murder of Sankararaman, a temple official who was killed in September 2004. The Kanchi Seer, Jayendra Saraswathi, has been named as the main accused.
Two other Mutt officials, Neelakanta Iyer and 'Neyveli' Krishnamurthy and Janakiraman, who drives the van of the Seer, were also questioned today by the team.
