You should be ashamed of your behaviour: Speaker Tuesday, December 7 2004 15:23 Hrs (IST) - World Time
New Delhi:
"You can give a notice for my removal," an exasperated Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee said today (Dec 7, 2004) while pulling up Kerala Congress member P C Thomas.
Chatterjee had a running argument with Nationalist Trinamool Congress member Mamata Banerjee after she was disallowed to speak during Zero Hour
He also reprimanded Thomas for repeatedly trying to put forth his views without the Chair's permission. "You are defying the Chair... I will name you," Chatterjee warned Thomas.
"Anybody deliberately defying the Chair will have to face consequences... don't think I will remain a silent spectator. Let the people of this country know. This House is not mine but it is yours and you have to run it," Chatterjee said.
At one point when members on both sides were on their feet on the issue of a tussle between two Union Ministers, the Speaker said, "you should be ashamed" for not resuming your seats and allowing normal proceedings.
When Banerjee sought to raise certain issues, the Speaker remarked that by now she should have known what issues should be raised at what time.
