BJP plans dharna against 'sluggish' K'taka Govt Tuesday, December 7 2004 16:31 Hrs (IST) - World Time
Bangalore:
BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) legislators in Karnataka would stage dharna in front of Chief Minister Dharam Singh's official residence "Anugraha" in Bangalore on Dec 14, 2004 to protest against the Government for allegedly bringing developmental activities to a grinding halt and "turning transfer of officials a lucrative business".
Addressing a press conference after an emergent meeting of the BJP legislature party, leader of Opposition in the State Assembly B S Yediyurappa charged that developmental programmes had come to a halt in the Congress-JDS (Janata Dal Secular) coalition regime.
He warned that if the Government did not commence developmental activities, his party would intensify its agitation.
Yediyurappa, flaying the delay in expanding the ministry by Singh, urged JDS, the coalition partner, to come out of the Government.
He charged that both Congress and JDS were indulging in mobilising resources to face the mid-term polls to the State Assembly, which he claimed was likely anytime.
Yediyurappa came down on the Chief Minister for announcing "package after package" for districts without releasing funds and cited the recent offer of Rs 638 crore package for Bagalkot.
