Railway seeks Rs 2,565 cr grant for ongoing projects

New Delhi: The Railway Ministry today (Dec 7, 2004) presented Supplementary Demand for Grant of Rs 2565.40 crore for accelerating various ongoing railway projects, including the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla rail line project.

A sum of Rs 1,028.40 crore has been sought under the Special Railway Safety fund for financing the project in Jammu and Kashmir and for accelerating the progress of various ongoing works.

These include funds for taking up certain "out of turn" works during 2004-05, which are regarded as "new services/new instruments of service", Minister of State for Railways R Velu said while tabling the grants in both Houses of Parliament.

The Ministry also sought Rs 1,537 crore as capital expenditure for the current fiscal.
