'God is testing Seer; arrest will curse UPA Govt' Tuesday, December 7 2004 16:51 Hrs (IST) - World Time
Vellore:
Expressing surprise over the "silence" of Congress leader and UPA (United Progressive Alliance) chairman, Sonia Gandhi on the Kanchi Seer Jayendra Saraswathi's arrest, former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Uma Bharati said in Vellore today (Dec 7, 2004) "the silence reveals a conspiracy, which will come out soon".
"What I am surprised is that why Sonia Gandhi is silent on the arrest. A conspiracy is revealed in the silence of Sonia Gandhi as so far no reaction has come from her as chairman of the UPA," Uma Bharati told reporters after calling on the Pontiff at the central prison this afternoon.
Uma Bharati said God might be "testing him (the Seer) and I feel that the arrest will create a shadow of curse on the country as well as the UPA Government".
The suspended BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) leader said the Seer had told her that he was not above law.
