Bihar Govt effects major reshuffle in police ranks Wednesday, December 8 2004 17:12 Hrs (IST) - World Time

The Bihar Government today (Dec 8, 2004) effected a major reshuffle in police administration ahead of the Assembly poll due early next year, transferring 37 IPS officers, including two IGs, besides four DIGs and several police superintendents.
IG (Patna zone) A C Verma would replace his Darbhanga counterpart Cima Limchen who would be new IG of Patna, according to a notification issued by the State home (police) department.
The DIG of Saran range Ganesh Prasad Yadav was posted as DIG (Cabinet Vigilance department), Patna, while DIG of Magadh range P A K Beck would be new DIG of Saran range.
The DIG (Patna) Sunil Kumar has been posted as DIG (Magadh range). The DIG (Headquarters) A K Verma would be new DIG of Patna.
The police Superintendents of Saran, Kishanganj, Banka, Nalanda and Khagaria too were shifted. The officials have been asked to move immediately after handing over their charge to their next junior and join their new place of posting by tomorrow positively and send a compliance report.
The Government has also transferred 27 officials of the Deputy Superintendent rank.
The Election Commission had recently directed the State Government to remove the "tainted" officials who have been barred from election duty during the last election, besides shifting officials who have stayed at one place for more than three years.
