India contributed $ 61 lakh to UN in 2003-04 Thursday, December 9 2004 15:27 Hrs (IST) - World Time

India's contribution to the United Nation's regular budget stood at $ 61.23 lakh during 2004 as against $ 46.04 lakh in 2003 and $ 38.65 lakh in 2002, Rajya Sabha was informed today (Dec 9, 2004).
The scale of assessment is reviewed every three years, on the basis of the latest national income statistics, to ensure that assessments are fair and accurate, Minister of State for External Affairs Rao Inderjit Singh said in a written reply.
Stadium: The Government has agreed to finance the construction of a cricket stadium in Georgetown, Guyana, and the first instalment of $ 1.5 million will be released at the time of award of the contract which is expected in
February 2005.
The project is expected to be completed by October 2006 to be ready for the World Cup, 2007, Singh said adding India will grant $ 6 million for the purpose.
Small Industries: The number of items reserved for manufacture by small-scale industries has been reduced to 605, Minister for Small Scale Industries Mahabir Singh said.
Civil Servants: There is no proposal to make a law on civil servants to make them accountable to Parliament, Minister for Personnel Suresh Pachouri said.
