Fierce gunbattle as militants attack SOG camp in JK

Srinagar: Militants today (Dec 9, 2004) attacked a Special Operations Group camp of local police in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir, triggering a fierce gunbattle, official sources said in Srinagar.

A group of militants targeted the SOG camp at Imam Sahib in Shopian, 55 km from Srinagar, around 4.15 hrs (IST), they said.

Spotlight: Kashmir is Not Negotiable

The personnel manning the camp retaliated and a fierce gunbattle was on, the sources said.

Unconfirmed reports said two policemen were killed and three others including the in charge of the camp, Deputy Superintendent of Police Javid Iqbal, were injured.
