POTA court allows inquiry panel to visit S6 coach Thursday, December 9 2004 10:26 Hrs (IST) - World Time
Ahmedabad:
The POTA (Prevention of Terrorism Act) court in Ahmedabad yesterday (Dec 8, 2004) gave its permission to the Godhra riot inquiry commission to visit the charred S-6 coach of the Sabarmati Express train between December 11 to 13.
POTA judge Sonia Gokani gave the permission after advocate T S Nanavati, appearing on behalf of the commission, comprising Justice (retd) G T Nanavati and Justice (retd) K G Shah, filed an application seeking the permission.
The application sought permission for the two commission members and some Government officials to visit the S-6 coach as they were also visiting Godhra town on the mentioned dates.
The commission had announced last week that it would visit Godhra and the S-6 coach.
Fifty-nine kar sevaks returning from Ayodhya onboard the Sabarmati Express train were killed in the fire, allegedly torched by a local mob, inside the S-6 coach just outside the Godhra railway station on February 27, 2002.
