Seer case: Bank official questioned by police team Sunday, December 12 2004 15:38 Hrs (IST) - World Time

The special police team, investigating the murder of Sankararaman, today (Dec 12, 2004) questioned a bank official from Chennai on the money transactions of the Kanchi Mutt through the bank that took place before and immediately after the murder.
Manager of Indian Overseas Bank, Kodambakkam branch, Anbu, summoned by the team, was questioned for nearly 90 minutes, at the team's office in Kancheepuram. The Mutt has its accounts in this branch, according to police sources.
Anbu later said that the summons were received by him as the bank's regional manager was away from Chennai and that he appeared on his behalf.
The team is investigating the murder of Sankararaman who was done to death in September last. Kanchi Seer Jayendra Saraswathi has been arrested as the prime accused in the case.
