India condemns attack on Shahrukh Khan's concert Sunday, December 12 2004 15:56 Hrs (IST) - World Time

India today (Dec 12, 2004) condemned the bomb blast at Bollywood star Shahrukh Khan's concert in Colombo and said all Indians, including the wife of former cricketer Ravi Shastri who suffered minor injuries, are safe.
"The Government of India condemns this terrorist incident and the perpetrators of this reprehensible act," the Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement.
"No Indian national is reported to have been injured other than the wife of former cricketer Ravi Shastri, who is believed to have sustained minor injuries," it said.
All Indian film personalities who performed at the show last night are safe and left Colombo as per schedule, the statement said, adding the Indian High Commissioner in Sri Lanka, who was at the programme, and other staff members of the mission are also safe.
The Indian Government conveys its condolences to the bereaved families and deepest sympathies to the injured, the Government and the people of Sri Lanka, it said.
"We are awaiting the results of the Sri Lankan investigation into the incident," it added.
An explosion took place towards the end of the show and it resulted in the death of two persons and injuries to a number of others, some of who are said to be in critical condition, the statement said.
