'BJP should stop comparing themselves with Cong'
Monday, December 13 2004 20:04 Hrs (IST) - World Time

New Delhi: Congress today (Dec 13, 2004) had a dig at L K Advani who had asked his party-men to be cautious against "Congressisation" of the BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party), by telling the Opposition party that no one could imitate the ruling party.

"They (BJP) cannot learn anything from the Congress and they should give up the habit of comparing themselves with us. The people have rejected them because of their agenda. Congress has a legacy of renunciation, sacrifice and commitment," party spokesperson Girija Vyas told reporters.

In an apparent advice to the saffron party to set its own house in order, Vyas recalled a BJP leader's statement "when a ship starts sinking, the rats start abandoning it".

Replying to questions, she said that her party was committed to bring forward Women's Reservation Bill and Employment Guarantee Bill.
