'I don't recollect saying anything against BJP' Monday, December 13 2004 15:57 Hrs (IST) - World Time
New Delhi:
Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Kalyan Singh today (Dec 13, 204) told Liberhan Commission that his blaming top BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) leaders for the demolition of the disputed structure at Ayodhya might have been borne out his anger over their not supporting him after his expulsion from the party.
"Truth is when I was removed from the party, no one had supported me and what I had said then could be an expression of anger and dissatisfaction. But I don't recollect if I said it or nor," he told the Commission probing the circumstances leading to demolition of the disputed structure on December
6 1992.
"Today, I would like to clarify that there was no conspiracy of any kind by any section," Singh said.
His reply came when Commission counsel Anupam Gupta referred to a media report dated July 16 2000, wherein he had allegedly accused senior BJP, RSS (Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh) and VHP (Vishwa Hindu Parishad) leaders of being part of a conspiracy to demolish the disputed structure.
