Govt presents demands for grants in Parliament

New Delhi: The Government today (Dec 13, 2004) presented in Parliament Rs 38,622 crore supplementary demands for grants for additional expenditure in the current year including Rs 22,665 crore for the Debt Swap Scheme of State Governments and Rs 4,625 crore for additional gross budgetary support to State Plans.

The first batch of supplementary demands for 2004-05 tabled in both Houses of Parliament includes 56 grants to various ministries and involved a net cash outgo of only Rs 5,063 crore as Rs 33,558 crore of additional expenditure would be matched by savings, enhanced receipts and recoveries by concerned ministries.

While Finance Minister P Chidambaram presented the supplementary demands for grants in the Lok Sabha, Minister of State for Finance Palani Manickam did so in the Rajya Sabha.
