Godhra panel admits plea to cross-examine Zaheera Tuesday, December 14 2004 14:57 Hrs (IST) - World Time

The Godhra train carnage and Riot Inquiry Commission today (Dec 14, 2004) admitted an application, seeking cross-examination of Zaheera Sheikh, the key witness in the Best Bakery case, regarding the affidavit that she had filed before the Commission two years back, naming 21 persons as accused responsible for the attack on the bakery on February
28, 2002.
The Commission, comprising Justice (Retd) G T Nanavati and Justice (Retd) K G Shah, admitted the application and gave time till December 20 to the State Government advocates to file replies as sought by them.
Advocate Mukul Sinha of Jan Sangarsh Manch, filed the application seeking the controversial witness Zaheera to be cross examined as she had named all the 21 accused persons in the affidavit filed before the Commission on May 20, 2002.
Sinha also filed applications seeking the presence of three officials of the Gujarat Directorate of Forensic Sciences (DFS).
