M F Hussain admitted to hospital after chest pain
Tuesday, December 14 2004 18:23 Hrs (IST) - World Time

Mumbai: Noted painter M F Hussain has been admitted to a private hospital in Hyderabad after he complained of chest pain, according to his son Shafaat Hussain.

Hussain, 89, who was to attend a function in Mumbai, was unable to make it as he was recuperating in a private nursing home, Shafaat said.

"He has been travelling a lot and has been exerting himself a lot, hence the doctors have advised him complete rest after he complained of fatigue and chest pain," Shafaat said.

"He (Hussain) has been asked cut down on his travel and his hectic activity," Shafaat said.

Refusing to divulge where in Hyderabad the painter had been admitted, Shafaat said the painter was not keen in publicising that he was unwell.
