Govt against trifurcation of J&K: Shivraj Patil

New Delhi: Government today (Dec 14, 2004) gave clear indication in the Lok Sabha that it was against any move to trifurcate Jammu and Kashmir.

"The policy of Government of India has been explained at large and that policy continues," Home Minister Shivraj Patil said in reply to a discussion on internal security in the country.

Replying to a question by Abdul Rashid Shaheen of National Conference, on the issue of trifurcation of the State into Kashmir, Jammu and Ladakh regions, Patil said the Government wanted the State to prosper and do well.
