Chennai: A six member NDA (National Democratic Alliance) delegation left Chennai for Vellore to meet the Kanchi Seer, Jayendra Saraswathi, who is now in Vellore prison after his arrest in connection with the murder of a temple official.

BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) sources said that the team had got the permission from the Tamil Nadu Government to meet the Seer in the prison and left the city around 8.45 hrs (IST).

The team comprising Balbir Singh Punj, Rasa Singh Rawat, Jayabehn Thakkar (all BJP), Chandrakant Khare (Shiv Sena), B J Panda (Biju Janata Dal) and Dinesh Trivedi (Trinamool Congress), all of who will also meet the Junior Acharya, Vijayendra Saraswathi, at the Mutt in Kancheepuram.

State BJP leader S Thirunavakkarasar and P Kumaravel, accompany the team, sources said.
