India's first Imax film Taj Mahal in final stages
Thursday, December 16 2004 20:29 Hrs (IST) - World Time

Thiruvananthapuram: Bharatbala, the first Indian director to work on the 'Imax' format, said his Imax film 'Taj Mahal-the heart of India' would be completed soon.

Sixty per cent of the shooting work for the big budget film was over, Bharatbala, in Thiruvananthapuram to attend the International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK) with his film 'Hari Om,' told reporters during a brief chat.

Aishwarya Rai is doing the role of Mumtaz in the film, the cost of which was not revealed by Bharatbala. "I am getting good support from the Central Government," he said, without elaborating.

He said the film, the last schedule of which would be shot soon, would be released all over the world. There were around 400 Imax theatres in the world now, he said.

Well-known actor Atul Kulkarni, who is also attending the IFFK, said he had been getting satisfying roles in all languages. He was keenly awaiting the release of 'Manasarovar' directed by Anup Kurian in which he had done a different role.

He said it was heartening to note that script-writers were now writing 'characters' and not villains or heroes.

To a question, he said he enjoyed acting in films as much as he enjoyed theatre where he started his career.
