Laloo's failure to appear in LS an insult: BJP
Thursday, December 16 2004 13:40 Hrs (IST) - World Time

New Delhi: Lodging a strong protest against the "disregard" shown by Railway Minister Laloo Prasad to Lok Sabha over Tuesday's (Dec 14, 2004) Punjab train mishap, angry members of BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) and its allies today (Dec 16, 2004) walked out of the House.

NDA (National Democratic Alliance) Chairman Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Leader of the Opposition L K Advani and other opposition members left the House immediately after Laloo finished his statement on the rail tragedy with BJP Deputy leader Vijay Kumar Malhotra saying, "The way the Railway Minister has behaved, we are going out of the House."

Laloo, instead of returning to Delhi from the site of the accident to inform the House about the details, went to Bihar.

"This is an insult to the House," Malhotra remarked.

Malhotra said 38 persons were killed in the accident and Laloo did not spend as many minutes there and chose to go to Bihar ignoring the House.
