Train disaster: Police arrest the station master

Chandigarh: One of the two absconding station masters, booked in the Jammu Tawi-Ahmedabad Express and a local train collision in Punjab two days back, was arrested from his native village in Himachal Pradesh today (Dec 16, 2004) police sources said in Chandigarh.

Station master of Mirthala Railway Station Ram Lal, charged under IPC for culpable homicide not amounting to murder in the train accident case in Mukerian which claimed 38 lives, was arrested by Government Railway Police personnel, they said.

Station master V K Malviya, who hails from Bihar, is absconding, the sources said.

The two officials have been booked under the Indian Railways Act, relating to negligence of duty, also.
