New Delhi: In a major development in the Delhi Public School (DPS) MMS case, police today (Dec 17, 2004) arrested the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the auction website Baazee.com Avnish Bajaj.

The India-born American citizen was arrested under Section 67 of the Information Technology Act (transmission of obscene material through electronic media), Deputy Commissioner of Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Delhi Police Prabhakar told reporters in New Delhi.

Bajaj had been summoned by Delhi Police from the US two days back and was arrested after it was established that the website had sold eight CDs of the lewd MMS, Prabhakar said.

He said the website had allegedly put on display the controversial act for three days from November 27.

Police has also got warrant issued against the expelled DPS boy student who allegedly indulged in sexual act with a schoolmate, recorded it on his camera and reportedly circulated it in the form of MMS.

Since the boy, son of a businessman, is a juvenile, various aspects are being considered before arresting him, Prabhakar said.

He said the girl, who allegedly participated in the sexual act, could also be questioned if necessary. The girl is said to have gone abroad after the incident came to light and she was expelled from the school.

Prabhakar said the girl's side had filed no complaints so far.

Bajaj, the second person to be arrested in the case, will be produced in a court in New Delhi tomorrow, Prabhakar said.

Earlier, police had arrested a student of IIT, Kharagpur, Ravi Raj for allegedly circulating the MMS.

Without revealing details of the investigations, the DCP hinted at more arrests in the case, saying "action will be taken against all those found to have liability in the case."

Prabhakar said Ravi Raj had obtained the controversial act by Local Area Network (LAN). He had then allegedly sold it to Baazee.com for auction.

Police have claimed to have recovered Rs 17,000 from Ravi Raj which he had allegedly raised through the sale.
