DPS for in-camera hearing in MMS scandal case Saturday, December 18 2004 22:28 Hrs (IST) - World Time
New Delhi:
Delhi Public School (DPS) today (Dec 18, 2004) approached a local court in New Delhi demanding in-camera proceedings in the obscene MMS scandal allegedly involving two of its students.
In an application filed before Metropolitan Magistrate Nivedita Anil Sharma, the school cited its reputation in the field of education "earned" through "decades of hard work by its staff, students and parents of its wards".
Referring to the recent media reports over the scandal, the application filed through counsel Puneet Mittal said these caused "grave mental trauma and stress to the students and staff" of the school.
The reports are "affecting the psyche of the students who are of tender age and are also required to appear in their examination including board classes."
Terming the reports on the case as "disturbing and defamatory", the school sought a direction for permitting only the parties to the case to be present during the proceedings in the "interest of justice".
"The investigation be taken to its logical conclusion and all guilty and responsible for any offences be dealt with sternly," the DPS application said.
The court did not pass any order on the DPS plea today.
