IPS officer granted bail in stamp-paper scam case

Hyderabad: An IPS officer K Narasimha Rao, who was arrested by special investigation team in connection with multi-crore fake stamp scam, was granted bail by Andhra Pradesh High Court.

Justice A Gopal Reddy yesterday (Dec 17, 2004) granted bail to Rao, a Rajasthan cadre IPS officer, following which he was released from Chenchal Guda jail.

Rao, who worked as Deputy Commissioner of Police, was arrested by SIT officials on February 9, this year.

The senior officer was charged with ordering the release of amounts frozen during the investigation into the scam, allegedly for a consideration.
