Conspiracy to eliminate me, says Abdul Karim Telgi
Saturday, December 18 2004 15:12 Hrs (IST) - World Time

Pune: The prime accused in the fake stamp paper scam, Abdul Karim Telgi, today (Dec 18, 2004) alleged before a local court that there was a conspiracy to eliminate him by slow poisoning and if anything happens to him, the jail authorities should be solely held responsible.

Telgi, who along with 60 other accused was produced before Additional Sessions Judge V V Borikar presiding the Special Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) court in view of Special Judge S H Shembole being on leave, alleged he was being put to untold misery, tortured and being slow poisoned as part of the conspiracy to eliminate him and necessary instructions should be passed to lift the lid off the plan.

He said that he was being kept in an egg cell where he cannot talk to anybody. Further, despite court orders, the jail authorities, particularly, the medical officer was being careless towards his health knowing well that "my condition was not good and that I have been referred to at least 17 hospitals all over the country over the period of time".

Earlier, Telgi's lawyer Harshad Nimbalkar submitted that despite clear orders by the MCOCA court to provide bedding and nutritious food to the former and to allow him to talk to his mother and wife, the jail authorities have chosen to ignore them.

He said Telgi was a HIV patient and therefore the court had allowed him to be taken to Sasoon Hospital for regular medical check up.
