Akshay, Shilpa bag Indo-American society awards

Mumbai: Actor Akshay Kumar, choreographer Farah Khan, television actor Jasmit Walia were among those who were presented the young achievers award by the Indo-American society in Mumbai last night (Dec 18, 2004).

The awards are given in recognition of the extraordinary achievements amongst India's young talent in their respective domains, according to Robert Blake Deputy Chief of mission US Embassy, New Delhi.

A total of 20 awards were presented at the function.

Actress Shilpa Shetty, creative producer Ektaa Kapoor, singer Kailash Kher were among the others felicitated.

Around 80,000 Indian students study in the US, Blake said adding, that the Indo-American relationship has been strengthened over the time, especially in the last year.
