MEA issues clarification over PM-Natwar meeting
Sunday, December 19 2004 17:49 Hrs (IST) - World Time

New Delhi: External Affairs Minister K Natwar Singh yesterday met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in connection with the five-day state visit of Malaysian Premier Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.

The impression conveyed by certain news reports that Natwar Singh met the Prime Minister immediately after arrival from his visit to Seoul was "factually incorrect", External Affairs Ministry spokesman clarified today (Dec 19, 2004).

He said the Minister had returned from Seoul and Singapore on December 17th night and met the Prime Minister the next day in connection with Badawi's visit.

Accompanied by a high-level delegation, the Malaysian Premier arrived today on what New Delhi's considers an important visit.
