MMS case: US must not interfere in internal affairs Monday, December 20 2004 14:52 Hrs (IST) - World Time
New Delhi:
A BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) member in Lok Sabha today (Dec 20, 2004) voiced strong objection to US Secretary of State-designate and National Security Adviser Condoleezza Rice reportedly pleading for Baazee.com chief Avnish Bajaj who has been arrested by Delhi Police in connection with the Delhi Public School (DPS) MMS clip sex scandal.
Raising the issue during Zero Hour, Lakshman Singh said that such moves were "uncalled" for and amounted to interference in the internal affairs of this country.
Would the US allow such interference if this had happened in that country? he asked.
Bajaj, an Indian-turned American citizen, was arrested as the portal had put out the sex clip.
Singh demanded that Government should give a statement in the House on the issue.
Tejashwini Ramesh of Congress supported him in his contention.
