No party can claim monopoly over Telangana: Reddy Monday, December 20 2004 22:38 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

In a rebuff to TRS (Telangana Rashtra Samiti) championing the cause of a separate Telangana, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajashekar Reddy today (Dec 20, 2004) said that no political party can claim monopoly over the region.
"TRS does not have a monopoly over Telangana. Congress stands committed to the development of Telangana and no political party can claim monopoly over the region," he told reporters in New Delhi.
The UPA's (United Progressive Alliance) stand on the Telangana issue has been accepted by the constituents, the Chief Minister said adding "I don't
think TRS represents the entire Telangana. Our (Congress) MLAs are more in number in Telangana."
Reddy said his Government was committed to the development of the Telangana region.
On the naxalite issue, he said his Government wants the talks with naxalites to continue in order to bring a lasting peace in the State.
Reddy said his Government had been apprising the Centre on the development in the ongoing talks with the naxalites.
