London theatre cancels play following Sikh protest

London: The Birmingham Repertory Theatre today (Dec 20, 2004) announced its decision to cancel the controversial play 'Behzti' (dishonour) rather than censor the work following a violent protest by over 400 Sikh demonstrators.

Stuart Rogers, the Executive Director of the theatre told reporters that the decision had been taken after discussions with police and Sikh community leaders today.
