K'taka agrees 'in principle' to set up 5th pay panel

Bangalore: Bowing to the pressure of its employees, Karnataka Government today (Dec 21, 2004) decided "in principle" to set up the fifth pay commission to revise their pay scales.

The details regarding setting up of the new pay commission would be spelt out in the Governor's address to be delivered to the joint session of legislature to be convened next month, Chief Minister N Dharam Singh told reporters in Bangalore.

Today's was the first Cabinet meeting held after last week's ministry expansion.
