Laloo 'real cause' for uproar in the House: BJP
Tuesday, December 21 2004 15:05 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

New Delhi: BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) today (Dec 21, 2004) noted its displeasure over Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee blaming NDA (National Democratic Alliance) for disruption of proceedings in the House and not naming Railway Minister Laloo Prasad "who was the real cause" for the uproar on December 15.

The BJP Parliamentary Party, at a meeting attended by former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and party president L K Advani, observed that the Speaker should have named Laloo while making a statement on adjournment in the House, Parliamentary Party Spokesman V K Malhotra told reporters.

He said that the meeting expressed its displeasure that instead of reprimanding Laloo, he blamed NDA for disruption of the House.

The BJP feels Laloo had "insulted" the House by not making a statement on the tragic train accident in Mukerian and instead going to Patna to attend party work, Malhotra said.

He said that the responsibility of running the House smoothly lies more on the Government, including the UPA and its allies Left Parties.

Addressing the meeting, Vajpayee said that the Government was "disintegrating" and the situation in the country was "not good", Malhotra said.

He said that the former Prime Minister also regretted that NDA was not able to raise people's issues in Parliament because of other matters.

The Parliamentary Party also discussed the upcoming elections in Bihar, Jharkhand and Haryana.
