Let law take its own course; Modi evades answers Wednesday, December 22 2004 22:56 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Ahmedabad:
Refusing to give any direct reaction on the Best Bakery case-related Tehelka expose of BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) MLA Madhu Shrivastav, Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi today (Dec 22, 2004) said it would be improper to make any comments since the matter is pending in the court.
"We should have full faith in the judiciary and should not do anything to influence it. It should be allowed to have its own course," Modi told reporters on the sidelines of a function at the Science city.
He said, "The entire thing (Best bakery case) is before judiciary and hence as Chief Minister of Gujarat and as a responsible citizen of this State I don't want to make any irresponsible statement."
"Nyay tantra ki karya pranali par hame bharosa hona chahiya aisa ma manta hun" (we should have faith in the functioning of the judicial system), he said adding hence it would be improper to make any comments when the matter is pending before the court.
