Cong members seek proper probe into Rajiv's death Wednesday, December 22 2004 16:51 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
New Delhi:
Congress members in the Rajya Sabha today (Dec 22, 2004) demanded a proper probe into the "revelations" made by the CBI recently on late Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi's assassination.
Raising the issue through a Special Mention, Congress member V Narayanasamy said that in the last few days reports were appearing that "certain persons" had connection with the assassination of the Rajiv Gandhi.
He said that the Jain Commission, which went into the issue, pointed out that there was a clear evidence of involvement of a foreign hand in the assassination. The Multi Disciplinary Monitoring Agency (MDMA) also went into the issue on the basis of the Jain Commission report, he said.
"New revelations have come from CBI to show that they have collected low of evidence" against those involved, Narayanasamy said adding that the Government should effectively pursue the case as 13 years had passed. Several Congress members joined him in his demand.
Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Suresh Pachouri said, "We are pursuing the case effectively."
