Sankararaman case: Bail plea of 8 accused dismissed Thursday, December 23 2004 15:48 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Kancheepuram:
The bail applications of eight accused, arrested in connection with the Sankararaman murder case, in which Kanchi Seer Jayendra Saraswathi has been arrested, was today (Dec 23, 2004) dismissed by a fast track court at Chengalpattu near Kancheepuram.
The eight had filed bail petitions in November last week. Arguments for and against the bail were held on December 20 and the Fast Track Court-I Judge K Jayabalan had reserved his orders for today.
The judge dismissed their bail plea after the applications came up for hearing before him today.
Kathiravan, one of the key accused, was arrested under Section 302 (murder), while 'Dil' Pandian, Arumugam and Satheesh were arrested under IPC section 201 (surrendering before a magistrate in a bid to divert investigation directed against the real culprits).
