Put behind poor performance in recent polls: Advani Friday, December 24 2004 22:21 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Yavatmal (Maha) :
Asking the BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) activists
to "put behind poor performance" in the recent Lok Sabha and Maharashtra Assembly polls, party president L K Advani told them to launch a vigorous campaign in their role as a "lively Opposition".
"The role of Opposition is not just to keep on opposing everything and anything but also to be involved in constructive activity," Advani said addressing the concluding session of the Maharashtra BJP unit's two-day convention today.
He also warned parties "inimical" to BJP and said there attempts to disintegrate the BJP's rank and file would be shot down.
"BJP, which launched four major campaigns in last seven-months received tremendous response to its campaigns for release of Shankaracharya Jayendra Saraswati, to protest inflation, insult to Tiranga and Veer Savarkar issue," he said.
The party also exposed the collapse of collective responsibility of Manmohan Singh Government whose ministers flouted norms and charged each other with severe allegations of corruption, appointment of half-a-dozen tainted persons with serious criminal charges against them as Union Ministers, and misuse of central agencies like CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) to carry out a "witch hunt" against rival leaders, Advani said.
